EJ Indices are a combination of environmental and demographic factors. There are 11 EJ Indexes in EJ screen reflecting the 12 environmental indicators. The 12 index names are: Particulate matter 2.5, Ozone, Diesel Particulate Matter, Air Toxics Cancer Risk, Air Toxics Respiratory Hazard Index, Traffic Proximity, Lead Paint, Risk Management Plan Facility Proximity, Hazardous Waste Proximity, Superfund Proximity, Underground Storage Tanks (UST) and Leaking UST, and Wastewater Discharge. To calculate an EJ index EJ Screen uses a formula to combine a single environmental factor with a demographic factor. Thus all the facilities you see on this layer have at least one of these indices over the states 80th percentile. |
